Shimla (Himachal Pradesh) [India], December 13 (ANI): BJP president JP Nadda on Saturday launched a sharp attack on the Congress-led Himachal Pradesh government, accusing it of mismanagement, corruption and failure to properly utilise funds released by the Centre.
Addressing a public gathering in Shimla, Nadda said there was “no shortage of funds” from the Union government for Himachal Pradesh and asserted that whenever financial assistance was sought, it was provided without delay.
“Regarding Himachal Pradesh, I want to state clearly that there is no shortage of funds from the Centre. Whenever funds were demanded, they were given,” Nadda said.
He stated that thousands of crores had been released by the Centre for disaster relief, infrastructure, health and development works, but alleged that the state government had failed to translate these funds into results on the ground.
“From disaster relief to infrastructure, thousands of crores were released. But there has been misuse, mismanagement and corruption. Projects are incomplete, funds remain unspent, and governance is ad-hoc,” he said.
Referring to the state’s administrative functioning, Nadda alleged that key institutions were not operating effectively and that governance had come to a standstill.
“Treasuries remain closed, key administrative posts are on additional charge, and there is no coordination even within the cabinet,” he said.
Describing the present situation as a decline from the past, the BJP chief said Himachal Pradesh had once been counted among the best-governed states in the country.
“Himachal Pradesh once ranked among the best-governed states; today, it suffers from administrative collapse. Even now, I say bring projects, and Prime Minister Modi will ensure support,” Nadda said.
He reiterated the BJP’s pitch for a “double-engine government”, asserting that effective development required coordination between the Centre and the state.
“Himachal Pradesh needs a double-engine government again so that funds reach the ground and development is visible,” he said.
Nadda said the BJP was committed to restoring development momentum in the state under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership.
“Under Prime Minister Modi’s leadership, the BJP will work with full strength to make Himachal a developed state. The people must decide on one side is Modi ji ready to bless Himachal with development, and on the other is a Congress government unworthy of that trust,” he said.
Calling for political change, Nadda said the present situation demanded more than administrative correction.
“Time demands not just administrative change but change of government as well. I am confident the people will fulfil this responsibility,” he added. (ANI)
